PANEL ADVOCATES

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully before applying for the position of Panel Advocate at Justice Alive Foundation (JAF):

1. Employment Status:

Panel advocates at Justice Alive Foundation will be engaged as independent contractors, not as employees. This position does not create an employer-employee relationship between the panel advocate and the organization.

2. Case Assignments:

Justice Alive Foundation will assign cases to panel advocates based on their expertise, availability, and the needs of the organization. The organization reserves the right to allocate cases at its discretion.

3. Compensation:

As per grid notified by the Executive Committee.

4. Pro-Bono Cases:

Panel advocates are strongly encouraged to take up pro-bono cases as part of their commitment to community service and promoting access to justice. Pro-bono cases will not be eligible for monetary compensation, but they provide an opportunity for panel advocates to contribute their legal expertise to individuals in need.

5. Professional Conduct:

Panel advocates are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner at all times. This includes maintaining client confidentiality, adhering to the rules and regulations of the legal profession, and acting in the best interests of the clients and the organization.

6. Case Management and Documentation:

Panel advocates are responsible for managing their assigned cases efficiently and maintaining accurate and up-to-date case files. This includes properly organizing and storing all relevant documents, correspondence, and records related to the cases.

7. Continuing Education:

Panel advocates are encouraged to engage in continuous learning and professional development activities to enhance their legal knowledge and skills. This may include attending seminars, workshops, and training programs related to their areas of practice.

8. Availability:

Panel advocates are expected to be available as needed to fulfill their responsibilities, which may include attending court hearings, client consultations, and other legal proceedings. While reasonable notice will be provided for case assignments, flexibility and responsiveness are crucial for effective case management.

9. Case Recall:

Justice Alive Foundation reserves the right to recall assigned cases at its discretion if it is unsatisfied with the performance of the panel advocate. In such cases, the panel advocate will be required to provide the necessary no-objection certificate upon request by the organization.

10. Termination:

Either party may terminate the engagement as a panel advocate with Justice Alive Foundation by providing written notice to the other party. The organization reserves the right to terminate the engagement if the panel advocate fails to fulfill their obligations, violates ethical standards, or engages in conduct detrimental to the organization’s mission and reputation.

11. Indemnification:

Panel advocates agree to indemnify and hold Justice Alive Foundation harmless from any claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses arising out of their actions or omissions in the course of their duties as panel advocates, except in cases of gross negligence or intentional misconduct by the organization.

12. Modification:

Justice Alive Foundation reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at its discretion. Any modifications will be communicated to the panel advocates in writing or through appropriate channels.

INTERNSHIPS

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully before applying for an internship at Justice Alive Foundation (JAF):

1. Unpaid Nature of the Internship:

The internship at JAF is an unpaid position. As an intern, you will not receive any monetary compensation for your contributions during the internship period. This opportunity is designed to provide you with valuable hands-on experience, skill development, and networking opportunities. Every month, two interns may be entitled to Rs. 1000 appreciation award if they perform exceptionally well during the period of their internship.

2. Educational and Professional Development:

JAF is committed to providing interns with valuable learning experiences. You will have the opportunity to enhance your legal writing skills, gain exposure to various legal topics, and work closely with experienced professionals. However, it is important to note that the internship should not be considered as a substitute for formal legal education or professional legal advice.

3. No Employment Relationship:

The internship at JAF does not establish an employer-employee relationship. This internship is a mutually beneficial arrangement, where interns gain experience, and JAF benefits from the interns’ contributions. The internship does not guarantee future employment with JAF or any other organization.

4. Intellectual Property Rights:

As an intern, you understand and agree that any content, articles, or materials created during the internship period, whether published or unpublished, become the property of JAF. JAF reserves the right to use, modify, reproduce, distribute, and display the content on its platform and other associated platforms. However, you will be acknowledged as the author of the content wherever it is used or published.

5. Confidentiality:

During the internship, you may have access to confidential and proprietary information belonging to JAF. You agree to maintain the confidentiality of such information and not disclose it to any third party without prior written consent from JAF. This obligation continues even after the conclusion of the internship.

6. Compliance with Laws and Ethical Standards:

As an intern, you must adhere to all applicable laws, rules, and regulations related to your work. You are responsible for ensuring that your contributions comply with ethical standards and do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party.

7. Termination:

JAF reserves the right to terminate the internship at any time for any reason, without providing prior notice. Similarly, you have the right to terminate the internship by providing a reasonable 10-day notice to JAF.
